School!

A week before school started, dance started for Ellie.  She was so excited.  She is taking 3 hours of ballet, (pre-pointe!) and 1 hour of modern.  Ellie loves to dance and it  really helps her sleep and calms her anxiety.  Masks are required, and they have to stay 6 feet apart, but being back at dance is awesome.

Aug 24 was the first day of school.  This year we have 2 high schoolers, a freshman and a junior.  Maya drives them in her awesome car.  I pick Sophie up twice a week because Maya does robotics, but it is so nice to not have to drive them every day.  Maya is taking 4 AP classes (English, programming, physics, and american history), and she loves school.  Sophie likes school ok.  She is glad to be back and likes high school, but it does mean school work which she doesn't like.

Ellie is in 6th grade at the middle school.  She absolutely loves it.  She loves being back with her friends and loves changing classes.  She has classes with some of her friends and couldn't be happier to be in school.

Liam is in the 4th grade and is also glad to be back at school.  He has some friends in his class and sits by 2 friends in the lunch room (they have assigned seats that are 6 feet apart).  He gets to take care of his lows in the classroom this year which he really likes.  He's gotten very responsible these last several months and takes care of his diabetes by himself as much as he can.  This year our goal is to have him be able to give himself his shots.  We now have a full time  nurse at the school and she is helping him meet this goal.

I have a new school center at the house.  I included bags for each of the kids to keep their masks.  They each have 5 masks so they always have a clean one available.
They have closed all the drinking fountains in the schools so they ask that each kid bring a water bottle.  Ellie didn't have a pocket on her backpack for her bottle, and the middle school doesn't get lockers this year, so I sewed her a pocket.  It turned out ok and works very well for her.
We are taking down our play set in the back yard so  we can put up a metal swing set.  Liam and Kyle have been working on it at night and are almost done.  We will be so glad to have the new swings that will be strong enough to hold even the older kids.
