Germany Day 2

We stayed the night of Friday, September 27 in Schwangau. The next morning we hiked up to Neuschwanstein Castle, another home of King Ludwig II. This is the castle that Disney modeled their castle after. King Ludwig passed away before he was able to complete it. Only about one-third was completed.

 Macha, Maya, and her cousins Timmy and Aaron took a horse carriage ride up to Neuschwanstein.

 Robby and Maya on the bridge way above the castle. It was very foggy and we couldn't see the castle because of so much fog.

 After touring Neuschwanstein, we drove up to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the world. What a beautiful place with so much history. The worst part was trying to find a parking place on the narrow streets.

 We took the Night Watchman tour at night. A large group of us walked around the town while the night watchman told us historical and humorous stories about the history of this 750 year old town.

 These are pictures that Uncle Scott took from the Marienbrucke high above Neuschwanstein while the rest of us were inside the castle taking the tour. Scott had taken this tour 3 times and didn't want to again. It was a good thing that he didn't come with us so that he could get these shots before the fog rolled in and covered the castle. By the time we came out and hiked to the bridge the fog had completely covered the castle.

 This is the view from the outer courtyard of the beautiful landscape that surrounds the castle. This is one of the most stunning places in the world.
