This year for spring break, the first week of April, we drove to Grandma and Grandpa Vocana's in Oregon and spent the week. The couple of week before, our family and been battling pink eye, and right before the trip Liam got it for the second time in 2 weeks. Fortunately we already had antibiotics so we were able to take care of it, but it still put a bit of a damper on the beginning of the trip. We did lots of fun things, Uncle Scott was in Portland so we got to spend a couple of hours with him, we went fishing and to the beach, saw Beauty and the Beast, and went to Omsi (Oregon museum of science and Industry). We also stopped at Multnomah Falls on the was home. We stayed with Aunt Nancy in Boise both ways. Fun was had by all.
We were only able to get a couple of hours with Scott, so after we picked him up from the airport we took him to Grandma and Grandpa's house. We hiked up to the old fort that they built when Kyle was a kid. The kids all thought it was pretty cool.
Poor Liam with his pink eye. This was when it was just starting, it got much worse. Because type 1 diabetes is an auto immune disease, he has a much harder time healing.
Liam in the car with a prize from the bag of fun. Nancy gave us a big bag full of things she had gotten and conferences and such. Every hour or so we would reach in a pull out something for everyone from the bag. It helped make the long drive a little more exciting.
We had a small birthday celebration for Liam while we were there. Grandma and Grandpa spoiled him with lots of presents.
One morning we went fishing and it was cold. I didn't fish, so the kids would take turns sitting in the car with me to warm up. All kids caught at least one fish. Ellie was so patient and stayed out almost the whole time and finally caught 3 fish. She discovered that she really enjoys fishing.
Kyle's uncle came and brought his little fishing boat and granddaughter. The only fish were caught from the boat and the girls really got along with Brooklyn.
As we were leaving they stocked the lake. We stayed and watched them dump 3,000 fish into the lake.
After fishing we stopped of at Cannon Beach. It was cold, but still fun to walk along the sand. We also stopped and got some salt water taffy.
One day we went to OMSI and had such a great time. We ended up spending the entire day there, there was so much to do. One of our favorite things was the chemistry room. They had stations were you could perform experiments. They kids loved it, so did I. It took me back to high school chemistry and my days on the Science Olympiad team.
There were so many hands on things. It was definitely worth going.
The best part of the museum was the Lego exhibit, Art of the Brick. If the exhibit ever comes your way, it it so worth going to. This guy makes art with Legos and it is incredible. He does famous works of art, sculptures, and his own original art. So amazing.
My mom loves Van Gough, so we had to get a picture in front of Starry, Starry Night.

Multnomah Falls. It was raining, but we still went. As you can see not all the kids were happy about hiking it the rain.
Kyle, Sophie, and Liam toured a submarine at the museum. I stayed behind with Ellie and Maya because they don't like tight spaces.
We had a really great time and got to do lots of fun things.
