Social Distancing week 1

2 days before they closed the schools Liam had his 3rd grade program.  It was a great program even though Liam did not enjoy being in it.  He doesn't like to sing, especially in front of people.

 We have survived our first week of no school.  It was rough at times, but we are all in one piece.  We try to get outside at least once a day so that means drives, hikes, and walks.  Sunday we took a walk to the park and a drive up the canyon.  The canyon was so pretty.

 We've also gone hiking several times.  The weather has been mild, so perfect for hiking.  We like to go hiking and get outside.  We really liked this sign about the poop fairy we saw at the beginning of one of the hikes.

 The kids really enjoy getting out in nature.

 Part of our hike is known as the Jungle trail.  It has obstacles to climb over and under, shelters to  play in, and even a tire  swing.  So much fun.

 Ellie and Sophie have been doing dance from home.  Their teachers record class and post of you tube so the girls can stay in shape and continue  to dance.  Ellie is using her barre that Papa Tim made her for Christmas.

 We have also been walking/biking to the park near our house.  There are very few people who ever use the park so we can still social distance, but the kids can get out and ride their bikes.  If we weren't allowed to  go outside this week would have been a lot harder.

School is going ok.  The kids teachers have done a great job posting things online for the kids to do.  Our biggest struggle is sharing the computer and chrome book.  4 kids and only 2 devices is tough, but we are making it work.  This experience has reinforced to me that I do not want to home school my kids.
To top off the crazy week we have had, Wednesday morning we had a 5.7 earthquake.  It was crazy.  There was shaking first, and then rolling waves.  We are all ok and our house is fine.  It did scare the kids a bit, however Sophie slept right through it.  Later that afternoon we experienced a substantial 4.7 aftershock.  That was also a little scary.  There's been  more aftershocks, but nothing too serious.  We are definitely living in a crazy time right now  with this coronavirus and then an earthquake.
