Social Distancing week 3

We have survived another week of social distancing and staying home.  We are getting a little stir crazy, but we are trying to come up with fun things to do.

Ellie had a bit of a freak accident this week.  She was walking with a box of colored pencils and the box came open on the bottom and the pencils fell out of the box.  One pencil (red) landed sharp side down in her foot.  The tip of the lead broke off  and stayed in the foot.  I had to fish the lead out, which was difficult because the red lead blended in with the red blood.  I got the lead out and Ellie was left with a legitimate hole in her foot.  It is doing much better now, but she will forever have a red dot on her foot from the lead. 

 The kids got bored one day so they collected boxes and toilet paper rolls and made a mansion out of them.  They had a good time and it kept them busy for several hours.

 Jimi is loving having everyone home all the time.  This is him watching me eat.

 Ellie had a school project where she had to keep an egg from breaking when dropping it from a high point.  She stuffed a plastic jar with cotton, with the egg in the center, then wrapped the jar in cotton batting and put it in another container.  Then she added a parachute.  The highest place we could find was our play set.

 The egg didn't crack.

 We had a wonderful week end watching conference.  The kids all watched and they all said they really liked it, especially Sophie who normally is not a fan of  conference.  I think that with everything going on in the world we really needed to hear from the leaders of the church.  We all all excited to participate in the worldwide fast on Friday.

 Ellie has been super helpful with dinner.   She loves to help cook dinner and has gotten really good at it.

 Sunday we made caramel popcorn and watched t.v. after dinner.

 Liam spends pretty much every day playing lego.  He builds some pretty impressive stuff.

This week was tough for us.  Liam had an appointment with his endocrinologist that we did remotely.  Everything is going well with him.  That night, Liam came down with a fever and small cough.  It kind of made us nervous so we ended up having a remote appointment with his pediatrician.  It was decided that all he had was an upper respiratory infection and that he didn't need to be tested for COVID-19.  His fever went quickly away, and his cough is doing better, but his blood glucose levels are really high and we can't get them down.  The Dr. checked in with him this morning and still thinks it's nothing to worry about.  It's been a long week with very little sleep.  Liam had a meltdown after talking to the Dr. because he was so scared. It was heartbreaking to watch your kid sobbing because he is afraid of getting sick and dying.  Ellie has also had a really hard time.  She is very sensitive and has some anxiety's so all this upheaval has been really hard.  She doesn't sleep well and most nights ends up in bed with me.  We are working on some coping mechanisms and hopefully things will get better for her.  Liam getting sick really scared her as well.  We are all on the mend and hopefully we will be able to get Liam's BG under better control soon.
