July

 Our July was pretty fun.  We had a lot going on.  We went to the cabin twice, and some of Kyle's family came for a visit.  For some reason the pictures downloaded in reverse order, so we'll start from the end of July and finish at the beginning.

Kyle's family came the last week in July.  Our nephew was baptized, we went to Cowabunga Bay water park, and went up the canyon for a picnic and games.

We played corn hole and a game called molki.  It was a really hot weekend, but we still had a good time. 

July 27 was Sophie's 14th birthday.  We went out to lunch, Maya took her and Ellie for ice cream, and we had dinner with my dad that night.  It was a low key birthday, but she had a good time.  The big thing for her is that she started to wear makeup.  Our rule is that the girls can start wearing makeup the summer before they go into  high school.  She also chalked her hair pink.  It washes right out, which is fun because she can change the color every day if she wants.

We spent the 24th at the cabin.  There is a new drink/shake place in garden city and the kids love to get these fancy drinks.  We went twice that trip.

We spent one day at the lake with the kayaks.  We also rented a jet ski for 4 hours which the kids loved.  they each got about an hour on it and Maya even got to drive.  We went on the 23rd and the crowds were not bad.  For the first couple of hours we had the beach and lake to ourselves.

We've been going out to eat a lot with my mom.  The restaurant we go to, Food For Thought, is right by a park so we order our food and take it to the park to eat. 

Our bathroom is pretty much done.  We are just waiting on the shower door which is super expensive and had to be custom made because it is so small.

We also spent the 4th at the cabin.  We ate outside a lot.  The view from the deck is beautiful.

We play a lot of corn hole at the cabin.  We have also been having tournaments complete with candy prized for the winnes.

My mom taught Kyle how to play Hand and Foot.  Kyle loves games, me not so much so they can play together and I can read.

Hanging out at the beach.  We ended up going to the lake on the 4th and it was pretty busy.  People still social distanced, but the beach was full.  My dad and I went early to get our spot, and we are glad we did because things filled up quickly.

We love the kayaks.  We now have three and the kids and adults all love using them.

Maya spends most of her time at the beach reading. She doesn't really like the water, but at least we are all together as a family.

We also tried hiking, but every hike was so busy so we just did a small little hike.  The kids were all cranky so it wasn't super fun, but we did get some exercise in.

We had a great July and are ready to start school.  We start on Aug 24 and the kids are anxious to start.  We decided to do in person school, but I think there is a chance everyone will end up online some time during the school year.
