more summer fun

Last week we headed back up to the cabin so that work could be done on our bathrooms.  It is much easier for Kyle and my dad to work if we aren't there.  It was a pretty low key week, but we managed to have some fun.
the day we arrived it was very cold and pouring rain.  we spent the whole day inside.  Once things cleared up and got a little bit warmer we went hiking.  There was still a little bit of snow, but it is melting quickly.

We also went tubing again, but I didn't take any  pictures.
We had a lake morning.  The kids kayaked and played in the sand.  It was a little cold, but we made the most out of the morning.  Maya didn't come with us,  she doesn't like the water much.

Nancy was there for the first part of the week and got the kids really into bird watching.  We have a gold eagle nest by us and we were able to watch the parents teach the baby to fly.  This year we also have a lot of other birds around the cabin.  Lot's of hummingbirds, wrens, and bluebirds.  After Nancy left we headed back up to the bird refuge.  We were able to see a bald eagle, a heron, and many more birds. This is a bird sitting on it's nest he built in the water.
We swam a lot this trip.  We had to go early and wait in line to get pool passes, but it was worth it.  One day we even had the entire pool to ourselves.  It was a dream come true for the kids.

We came home yesterday so Maya could go this morning and get her drivers licence.  She was also able to drive her car home from the shop.  It was so strange to have her drive all by herself.  This is a huge milestone for her and our family.  We now have an extra driver and car so I'll be doing less running around.
We are going back up to the cabin in a couple of days because our bathrooms aren't done yet.  My house is a mess and everything is covered in a fine layer of dust.
