Legoland

The last week of September Liam finally got to go on his 9 year old trip. (he is now 10)  We flew to San Diego.  It was Liam's first time on a plane and he loved it.  We had no problem getting through security in Salt Lake, but on the way home it was a little harder in San Diego.  Liam travels with a lot of medical supplies, some that can not go through the xray machines.  He also can't go through the body scanners because of his Dex.  TSA is Salt Lake were friendly and helpful while in San Diego they yelled at us a couple of times and took a little convincing to help us.

We got the San Diego in late afternoon and first went to the Mormon Battalion site.  It is one of our favorite free things to do in San Diego.  Liam got to pan for gold.
Kyle and Liam hanging out in a wagon.
We also stopped at the temple on the way to our hotel.
We took a tour at the Battalion and we were the only ones on the tour.  Liam got to dress up as a soldier.  After the tour we walked to old town for dinner.  We ate at a delicious mexican place in the heart of old town.  They had live music in the square that we listened to during dinner.  After Liam got ice cream and we headed to our hotel where Kyle and Liam went swimming.
The next day we woke up and went to the Leo Carillo Ranch Historic Park.  We had never been and were surprised by how much we enjoyed it.  Before we toured the park we watched a video and learned that Leo Carillo was an actor who loved California.  He bought the ranch as a place for him and his  family to relax and entertain.

We took a self guided tour.  Our first stop was the stables.

Liam at the main house.
The pool that Liam wished he could swim in.
The beautiful grounds by the house. The whole property is gorgeous.  They also label a lot of the plants and have signs all over describing each building.
We went to the beach several times and Liam loved it.  I think he could have spent all day there even though the weather wasn't great.

That afternoon we headed to the main attraction, Legoland.  We checked into the Castle Hotel and it was amazing.  There are lego's everywhere.  So many amazing details.
We stayed in the wizard room.  Liam had his own room with bunk beds and a tv.  Everyday there was a treasure in the treasure box for Liam.  For some reason they gave us 2 treasures each day so Liam got double the fun.
The first night was a small dog lego set and the other 2 nights were minifigs.  He loved everything about the hotel.
Liam loved the pool.  He swam everyday.

The next day was our first day at Legoland.  It was sprinkling, but that didn't dampen our excitement.  Because we were staying at a Legoland hotel we were able to get into the park and ride some rides early.  Liam was excited all day.  Here he is in Ninjago land.  The ninjago ride was a lot of fun and over out 2 days we rode several times.
We rode a boat to see some lego creations.  It was a boring ride, but the lego creations were pretty cool.

Liam on the Bionicle spinners.
We rode all the rides, even the boring ones.  Our favorites were the technic coaster, coastersaurus, a pirate ride. Emmet's flying adventure, and the unikitty ride.  The park was pretty much empty so our longest wait was less than 15 minutes.

Miniland was pretty cool.  All the details were pretty amazing.

Our second day at legoland was fun as well.  The weather was better, but there were even less people.  Liam spent some time building a roller coaster with some boys he met.
We went to the store and Liam bought some pretty awesome sets with his hard earned money.  They have some pretty awesome builds in the store.

At the end of the first day we went to the aquarium.  It wasn't a great aquarium, but we weren't expecting much so we were pleasantly surprised.

The start of day 2.  We were the first in line to get in even though we were only about 15 minutes early.

The front of the castle hotel.  I would stay at a legoland hotel again.  It was so close to legoland and so nice to have a separate room for Liam.  The breakfast was really great and all the amenities were great.  Because it was the off season it didn't cost any more than other hotels.
The next morning before we headed to the airport we stopped at the beach again.  This time the weather was nice and Liam was in heaven.

It was such a great trip and our last 9 year old trip.  Now we get to start thinking about senior trips with the kids.
