Spring Break

The first week of April was spring break, so we packed up the family and headed to St. George for a couple of days.  We went out to Red Rock Conservation area and did a hike to an arch.  It was quite the experience.  Dirt Roads, poorly marked trails, lots of crying and whining.  Despite all this we had a good time and really enjoyed the day.

Conference was on Sunday so we stuck around the house and watched the first session.  It was also Easter, so the kids got baskets which I forgot to take pictures of.  Monday we went into Zions and it was crazy busy.  We got there really early so were able to do two hikes before the crowds got really bad.  We didn't even go into the main canyon because of the crowds, but we had a really great time.  We did the overlook hike first.  We really like this hike because it is interesting and leads to a great view.

After that we did about 3 miles on the East Rim trail.  We all really liked this hike.  It wasn't too hard, we saw hardly any people, and it was really pretty.  Miraculously we didn't have to stop once for Liam's blood sugar.  We've learned that if we feed him trail mix as we hike he can maintain his blood sugar better.

Kyle's brother Jeff and family from California were also in St. George at the same time so we got to spend some time with them.  We found a really cool, big park with a splash pad and went 3 times.  It was so much fun to spend time with cousins.  we don't see them very often, so it was really fortuitous that we both happened to be in the same place at the same time.
On our way home we stopped at Kolob and did a little hike to this cabin.  It was busy, but the kids had a lot of fun.  We were also able to get Liam's disability National Park pass so now he can get into any Park for free.  The Ranger that helped us was incredibly rude and didn't think he qualified for one, but we were still able to get it, I just went away from the experience a little angry and frustrated .

We had a really great trip, we just wish we could have stayed longer.
