Once again, the last 2 weeks have been pretty difficult for us. Just as I was feeling better, Ellie got sick. She got the same thing as I had and it was pretty miserable. She had a fever for about 5 days. Her anxiety has been pretty high since this whole COVID thing has gone down and it got even worse when she got sick. Night was especially difficult for her. I spent a week spending most of the night holding her while she cried. It was heartbreaking. She is doing better now and is able to sleep all night on her own, but she still has some anxiety.
There was a point when i was rubbing her down with ice packs because she was so miserable with a fever and that was the only thing that made her feel even remotely better.
Sophie and Ellie have the same shirt and one day they both wore them at the same time. One Sunday we had ice cream sundays for dessert. The kids really liked that.
Last weekend Ellie was feeling better, so we decided we all needed a break so we went up to the cabin. It was so nice and relaxing there. Things are open and people are around and there is less tension in the air. The county has had no COVID cases so they are careful, it is a totally different atmmosphere. The weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold.
This is Jake and I on a walk one morning. He was so excited to be out and not on a leash that I couldn't keep him by me, he was running all over the place checking everything out.
Liam helped Kyle and my Dad move some wood. Friday we also had school work to do, but the kids quickly got it all done so they could play.
My mom, Sophie, Ellie, and I went on a diet coke run and ended up going up Logan Canyon and taking some off road adventures. We also went on a small hike. Our quick drink run turned into a 2.5 hour adventure. We really liked this sign at the beginning of our hike.
Cute Ellie was a trooper. She was still feeling really weak and tired, but still hiked with us.
Sophie was able to count the hike as her PE activity for the day.
My cute Mom. This hike was not on a trail, but rather just wandering through the trees and meadow. My kids after said it was a typical hike with Macha.
Saturday the whole family went on a little hike. It was fun and one we had never done before. My dad dropped us off and then picked us up at the end. We then went and got milkshakes. My kids are great hikers if we keep them going with the promise of a treat after.
Jake went on the hike with us and we forgot his water bottle. Most of the time we were following a stream so he was able to drink, but at the end Ellie gave him some of her water.
Saturday I also took Liam out kayaking. We tried to both get in the kayak, but Liam has grown a ton this year and we were too heavy, so I sat on the shore while Liam kayaked. He is really good and despite the freezing water he had a great time. He is dying to go swimming but since all the pools are closed this was the next best thing.
We had such a great time at the cabin and did not want to leave. We are planning on going back up for memorial day weekend.
