bedrooms

One thing we have been working on this winter was the girls rooms. We have moved Maya and Sophia downstairs, so that meant brand new rooms. Maya's was the biggest change. First of all, we had to get ladders for the windows, which my Dad made and did a great job. Then we also changed out the light in Maya's room. There was a horrible fluorescent light, and my Dad enclosed it and put in a chandelier. We then painted the room a really pretty silvery blue and added some furniture that we already had. She loves her new room.
The desk happens to be the one I used growing up and was also my Grandpa's. It is a little old and worn, but still very functional.
We love the chandelier. For the dresser we just used cubes we already had. It works really well because it is a lot easier for Maya to open and close. We still need to put something over the bed, but that probably won't get done until after the baby comes.

Sophia's room was a lot easier. This is the girl's old room from when we lived downstairs so it was already painted purple and all we did was move everything back in. She got the bunk beds so that when we have visitors Maya's room can be used as a guest room and the girls can easily sleep in the same room.

Ellie's room was also very easy. We wanted to keep it simple and not too kiddy. It is right off the entry way, so everyone that comes to our house sees her room so I wanted to keep it a little more "grown up". I really love how it has turned out.

The baby's room is a work in progress, but this is one of the pictures in the room. My mom made this needlepoint picture back when I was a kid and it has been sitting in a closet for about 20 years. She had it framed and gave it to us to use. We love it and it looks good in the room. The room is pretty much ready, we just need to add a couple things. Hopefully it will be done by the time the baby comes, but if not that is okay too.
