Diaversary

On August 24, (one day I'll get caught up with my blogging) marked the one year anniversary of Liam's Type 1 diabetes diagnoses.  It may seem strange to some, but for us it was a big day and we celebrated by going out to dinner.  The past year was full of ups and downs, highs and lows, and just trying to figure out how to keep Liam healthy.  It was not always easy.  There were lots of tears, (from him and me) tantrums, sleepless nights, and stressful decisions.  Despite how hard it has been, we've made it a year.  I've gotten pretty good at counting carbs, my math skills have improved, Kyle can give shots without getting squeamish, all 4 kids know how to test Liam and treat a low.  We've gotten into a pretty good routine, but there are still days that throw us off.  Some days things just don't go how we think they will go, but we've learned to just do the best we can and move on.  This diagnoses has affected our whole family, but I think it has also made us stronger as a family, and that is why we decided to celebrate.
