January

In January we got back into our normal lives.  School started back up, dance, and all our church activities.  Sophie had a science project due at the beginning of the year.  We really dislike science fairs, but she found a fairly easy project to do.  She put gummy bears in different liquids to see what happened.  She got the project done and presented it to her class, which for her is a big deal.
My mom gave Liam this headlamp and he was so excited that he made me take a picture.
The major thing that happened in January was that Liam got a CGM.  A CGM is a continuous glucose monitor.  His is a dexcom G5.  A sensor goes into his skin, checks his blood every 5 minutes, and the transmitter (the thing on his tummy) send it to his phone  which then sends it out to mine and  Kyle's phones.  It has been so great.  He doesn't have to prick his finger as often, and I can check him even when he's not with me.  The other awesome thing is that we now have a better picture of what is happening with his BG.  We know when he spikes and drops so we can have a better guess as to why.  It is also really nice because all our phones alarm when he goes too low or high, so we can correct quicker.  We also sleep better because we know we will be woken up if he drops.  It was a huge expense, but totally worth it.  I could not imagine going back to not having one.
