Germany Day 4

We stayed the night of September 29 right outside of Cochem, a small town on the Mosel River. We got up Monday morning and drove into town. We then hiked the steep hill to the local Reichsburg Castle up high on the hill.
This is a quaint little street in Cochem, straight uphill.

Robby and Maya with Cochem and the Mosel River behind and below them.
In the courtyard of Reichsburg Castle.
Maya was a little afraid of the armor suit. The tour was all in German, but it was very good because it gave us a chance to look at things while not having to pay attention to someone talking.
Views of the castle from the outside.

Robby, Macha, and Maya at Reichsburg.
It was tough to get Maya to smile.
After Reichsburg Castle, we drove a few miles down the river so that we could see another castle. This castle is nestled in the woods and required about a 3/4 mile hike to get to it. What an amazing thing to turn a corner and see this castle perched on a hill. This is Burg Eltz. The Eltz family has owned it for 850 years and the current owner of the Eltz family is the 33rd generation. We toured the inside but we were not allowed to take pictures.
This is the inner courtyard of Burg Eltz.
A view from the tour bus road.
Robby and Maya down by the Elz River below the castle.
Maya, Robby, Macha, Timmy, and Katie on the trail after touring Burg Eltz.
We then drove to Aachen and stayed the night at Scott and Katie's place.

This is definitely an "end of the day" photo. We look like we've been toured out. haha. Macha's got her "tough-girl" face on. :
