Tuesday, October 1 we spent the entire day in Aachen and the surrounding area. Aachen is located on the border of Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. It is an extremely old city with a rich history. The Emperor Charlemagne made Aachen his home until he passed away in 814 because Aachen had several thermal springs that he used to heal his aching body.

After touring the cathedral and walking around downtown Aachen, we headed to the Lindt Chocolate Factory to load up on A LOT of chocolate. Scott and Katie live only about 5 minutes away. Aachen is a wonderful city.
