Friday June 5 we woke up and headed to Acadia National Park. On our way we stopped off at Stephan King's house in Bangor. It is a really cool house with some creepy details.
When we got to Acadia we went and hiked Dorr Mountain. I wasn't feeling great and found the hike pretty difficult, but in the end worth it. There were lots of stone steps to go up and some metal rungs to climb.Along the way there were some pretty amazing views.
We made it to the top hot and tired. Maine was having a heat wave and we were in 85 degree heat with 85% hunidity.
After the hike we were starving so we went into Bar Harbor to get lunch. We found a great place right on the water that had delicious food. After we walked a bit along the water.
We then headed to Jordan Pond. We were hoping to be able to grab a couple of popovers, but it was too busy and this year they weren't taking reservations or doing to go orders. We walked down to the pond and it was very pretty.
This is a picture of the trail down from Dorr Mountain. We went down a different trail than we came up and made a loop. It was a difficult but nice trail. Lots of trees and shade.
After we checked into our hotel we headed to Bass Harbor lighthouse. It was a little stormy and windy, but so beautiful. It is such a cool lighthouse that sits on a rock cliff. I loved that we could walk on the rocks to see it from below.
We also got to walk up to the lighthouse.
We had a great 2nd day and stayed in an adorable little motel. It was old, but so cute and clean. I was up on a hill away from everything with woods behind it.
